In like a lion?

It’s been a week of wild weather around here. We went from sunny  and beautiful to snowy and cold and now that it’s done snowing (hopefully) it’s getting crazy cold again.

I get a daily weather forecast from Accuweather, I signed up for it a few years ago when I was racing the first frost for tomatoes and peppers, and the English in the emails is a constant source of amusement. Tonight’s forecast from their website as of about 9 pm is above, but the text from this afternoon’s email read “Tonight; clouds breaking; frigid; extreme cold can be dangerous for outdoor activities late”. Now if that’s not a warning I don’t know what is!

Last night’s snow came in with a roar, dumping many inches north of us in a short period of time, and about 4″ here at 14 Mile Farm in just a couple of hours. The inconvenience was far outweighed by this mornings beauty.

The barn and barnyard in the snow. I left that horse blanket on the rail to dry before the snow hit. I'll be waiting a while I think.

Digger and Travis enjoying breakfast with the morning fog behind. I couldn't persuade Digger to lift his head. Whiskey is gone, but that's a story for another day.

I left the trailer hooked up for my Friday afternoon lesson with Kari, but we're not going anywhere until the roads thaw.

It looks like at least the snow / ice in the shade will be here until Saturday and then it’s going to warm back up. Hopefully snow at the end of February counts as March coming in like a lion as I’d really prefer it to out like a lamb. This has been a long winter and I’m more than ready for spring! How about you?
